This role is responsible for coordinating and performing complex laboratory tasks. As a lead, the technician oversees the work of others, develops processes, and ensures follow-through. Responsibilities include compiling, finalizing, and reporting data and findings.

 

The Lead Laboratory Technician determines methods for monitoring laboratory equipment and supply levels, ensuring smooth daily operations. Tasks are completed in resourceful and effective ways, drawing on specialized skills and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Laboratory Operations & Technical Oversight:
    Lead and support daily laboratory activities, including sample preparation, testing, and media/reagent production using aseptic techniques and good laboratory practices. Ensure equipment functionality through quality control checks, troubleshooting, and calibration, while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

  • Process Development & Data Management:
    Establish and refine laboratory processes for product creation, data analysis, and result interpretation. Maintain accurate records in databases or paper logs, and generate clear reports and presentations to support decision-making and continuous improvement.

  • Team Leadership & Compliance:
    Coordinate the work of laboratory staff, assist in hypothesis validation, and enforce consistency through adherence to SOPs and GLP standards. Monitor inventory, manage supply orders, and contribute to operational enhancements across the lab.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma and 5 or more years of relevant laboratory experience, including 0–2 years of supervisory or lead experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with aseptic techniques, sample preparation, media and reagent production, and equipment calibration.
  • Ability to troubleshoot laboratory issues and perform quality control testing to maintain sterile and safe work environments.
  • Familiarity with SOPs, GLP, and laboratory safety protocols.
  • Skilled in data analysis, documentation, and generating reports and presentations.
  • Capable of managing inventory, placing orders, and resolving supply discrepancies.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to process improvements and support operational efficiency.

Benefits

The expected salary range for this position is $65,000 to $70,000 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience and qualifications as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for additional incentive compensation including regular merit increases and the corporate bonus program.
