Overview

ATCC, a leading nonprofit biological resources and standards organization, is seeking a Biologist with hands-on experience in DNA purification, DNA quantitation, gel electrophoresis, and the use of common sequence analysis tools such as NCBI BLAST.  Lab documentation and GXP experience is highly preferred, and this Biologist must be proficient in standard molecular biology techniques and demonstrate strong analytical and organizational skills.

We're looking for a Biologist to manufacture biological materials and standards. You'll work under minimal guidance to support the production of biological cultures and derivative products, as well as contribute to data collection and recording.

Responsibilities

  • Manufacturing Operations: Quality control (QC) testing of biological products by following standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and other controlled documents. Maintain laboratory safety, operations, equipment, and supplies.  
  • Documentation: Maintain production batch records in compliance with good laboratory practices. Contribute to revisions of SOPs and work instructions. Collect, analyze, and report data, ensuring meticulous documentation. 
  • Continuous Learning and Problem-Solving: Increase knowledge of various molecular techniques, and handle challenges in alignment with organizational policies. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific field, (e.g., Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry) with 2-5 years of relevant experience or equivalent
  • Demonstrated proficiency in DNA purification, DNA quantitation, and gel electrophoresis
  • Experience with sequence analysis tools, including NCBI BLAST
  • Skilled in standard molecular biology techniques and biological material handling
  • Hands-on experience in the manufacture and processing of biological materials, including aseptic technique and specialty workflows relevant to biological standards production
  • Familiarity with laboratory documentation practices and GxP compliance (highly preferred)
  • Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision while adhering to corporate policies, quality standards, and regulatory guidelines 

Benefits

The expected salary range for this position is $65,000 to $75,000 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience and qualifications as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for additional incentive compensation including regular merit increases and the corporate bonus program.
