Overview

ATCC, a leading nonprofit biological resources and standards organization, is seeking an Industrial Safety Specialist to support our Environmental Health and Safety Team and local ATCC facilities in VA and MD.  This EHS Industrial Safety Specialist will work onsite, likely 3 days in Manassas, VA, 1 day in Gaithersburg or Germantown, MD and 1 day remote per week. 

 

This role requires industrial safety and OSHA compliance experience, ideally in laboratory general industry setting.  This Industrial Safety Specialist will collaborate closely with our facilities team on major facility-related projects. Responsibilities include development and maintenance of Industrial Safety Programs and OSHA compliance programs, general EHS duties, incident response, and emergency management.

Responsibilities

  • Industrial Safety Training and Compliance: Develop and support Industrial Safety programs with improvements for organizational safety training, while ensuring compliance with all environmental, health and safety regulations and standards. 
  • Audits, Inspections, and Reporting: Lead safety audits and inspections following routine processes and detailed instructions. Review safety and environmental reports, compile, analyze, and interpret data, reporting on department metrics as requested. 
  • Emergency Response and Program Maintenance: Respond to emergency environmental and/or safety situations, exercising judgment within procedures. Maintains Industrial Safety Programs and OSHA compliance programs, including Respiratory Protection Program for compliance. Conduct new employee and contractor safety training, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local regulations and standards. Utilize company policies and procedures to address compliance challenges. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2-5 years’ experience or equivalent 
  • Solid understanding of federal, state, and local environmental health and safety regulations. 
  • General industry industrial safety experience required. 
  • Proficiency in conducting safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments. 
  • Strong data analysis and reporting skills. 
  • Ability to coordinate and lead safety training programs. 
  • Experience with emergency response procedures and protocols. 
  • General Industry Safety (preferred)
  • OSHA certifications (LOTO, Confined Space, Fall Protection, Electrical Safety, Respiratory Protection, etc. highly preferred)

Benefits

The expected salary range for this position is $75,000 to $80,000 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience and qualifications as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for additional incentive compensation including regular merit increases and the corporate bonus program.
