Overview

Ready to shape the future of science and global health? A global nonprofit that provides trusted biological materials for science and health, ATCC is hiring a Biologist. This onsite position in Manassas, VA supports MSAT-Molecular laboratory operations, molecular testing, product support investigations, manufacturing support activities, and process improvement initiatives in a regulated laboratory environment. The role performs molecular biology testing, analyzes and interprets data, documents results in accordance with quality system requirements, supports troubleshooting and manufacturing investigations, and contributes to method verification, development, and technology transfer activities.

Responsibilities

  • Molecular Testing: Perform nucleic acid extraction, PCR, qPCR, ddPCR, and related analytical testing activities following established protocols.
  • Investigations & Troubleshooting: Support product support activities, manufacturing investigation, and laboratory troubleshooting efforts.
  • Method Development & Verification: Assist with method verification, development activities, and technology transfer initiatives.
  • Process Improvement & Projects: Participate in process improvement initiatives and cross-functional projects supporting laboratory and organizational objectives.
  • Data Analysis & Documentation: Analyze and interpret test results and maintain accurate scientific documentation in compliance with quality system requirements.
  • Laboratory Operations: Support routine laboratory operations, product accession activities, service requests, equipment use, and compliance with safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Requirement: Bachelor's degree and 2 years of experience, or equivalent experience (Master's degree, or High School Diploma and 6 years).
  • Hands-on experience with molecular biology techniques including nucleic acid extraction, PCR, qPCR, ddPCR, and related analytical methods.
  • Experience analyzing and interpreting scientific data and documenting results in regulated laboratory environments.
  • Knowledge of scientific documentation practices, quality systems, and compliance requirements.
  • Strong laboratory skills, attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across functions.
  • Preferred: Experience supporting manufacturing investigations and product support activities.

Benefits

The expected salary range for this position is $65,000 to $75,000 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience and qualifications as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for additional incentive compensation including regular merit increases and the corporate bonus program.
