Overview

Ready to shape the future of science and global health? ATCC, a leading nonprofit biological resources and standards organization, is seeking a Manager, Learning & Development to establish and lead our new training function. In this new role, you’ll build and manage specialists dedicated to analyzing and enhancing our organizational structures and processes. You’ll design and implement impactful training initiatives from the ground up, assess their effectiveness, and ensure our specialists are equipped to deliver engaging and participatory instruction.

 

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to lead and manage key stakeholders while playing a hands-on role in building and enhancing our training and talent development functions. This position requires a strategic leader who can design and implement comprehensive training programs, foster a culture of continuous learning, and drive the development of our employees. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in stakeholder management, training program development, and talent development, ensuring our workforce is equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to excel.

Responsibilities

  • Training Program Management: You will oversee the organization, evaluation, and development of internal training for new and existing employees. You will make decisions on materials and appropriate delivery methods (e.g., instructor-led, web demos, video conferences, workshops) for programs on a variety of topics.
  • Performance and Effectiveness Assessment: You will identify opportunities for improvement initiatives and develop methods for measuring the effectiveness of all programs that support organizational development. You will assess feedback on training and development needs, coordinate corrective actions, and advise on developmental roadmaps to close performance gaps.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration and Administrative Oversight: You will collaborate with internal stakeholders to support initiatives that drive performance and growth, and work with Senior Management to assess training needs and monitor program effectiveness. You will ensure administrative tasks such as scheduling classes, coordinating enrollment, maintaining training records, and managing the training budget are performed accurately and efficiently.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 7 or more years' experience, including 2 or more years' supervisory experience or equivalent experience.
  • Strong understanding of adult learning principles and instructional design.
  • Proficiency in various training delivery methods, such as instructor-led training, e-learning, and blended learning.
  • Excellent project management skills to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess training effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS), Docebo, and other training software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant tools.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with a track record of developing and mentoring team members.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to adapt to changing business needs and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • High level of initiative and the ability to work independently.
  • Experienced results oriented Instructional Designer in the Life Science space highly preferred.

Benefits

The expected salary range for this position is $120,000 to $130,000 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience and qualifications as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for additional incentive compensation including regular merit increases and the corporate bonus program.
