Are you looking for a dynamic work environment where your contribution can make a significant impact to the scientific community? ATCC is seeking a full-time direct hire Supervisor, Laboratory Operations for the Manufacturing, Science and Technology Cell Biology group to work onsite at ATCC headquarters in Manassas VA.

 

 

Seeking individuals with the following skills:

  • Bachelor's degree and 5 or more years' experience, including 0-2 years' supervisory experience or equivalent experience.
  • Strong knowledge of adherent and suspension cell culture preferred (BSL-1 and BSL-2)
  • Experience in cell culture scale up technologies such as bioreactors, shaker flasks, stir flasks.
  • Extensive, in depth understand of biologics manufacturing from production planning to QA release.
  • Experience with process or method development and/or tech transfer.
  • Technical knowledge of analytical methods and statistical data analysis is preferred.
  • Training in LEAN/6Sigma is preferred.

Responsibilities

  1. Provide technical leadership related input in support of risk assessments, change controls and validation documentation etc. serving as the MSAT Cell Biology SME.
  2. Be a key contributor to the Cell Biology Manufacturing team and play a pivotal contributing role to shape the identification and deployment of technologies.
  3. Ensure test methodologies provide quality of results required and are in full compliance with Quality Assurance (QA) requirements, regulatory requirements, standards, and protocols. Troubleshoot out-of-specification results, analyze data, and oversee process changes.
  4. Provide technical input to purchasing and other functional areas. Develop and evaluate new and/or existing assays for characterization/authorization of biological materials. Review custom product requests for feasibility and accuracy. Provide technical input for process/equipment validation. Lead validation activities.
  5. Direct and coordinate the laboratory staff and maintain an adequate inventory of lab glassware, materials, and laboratory equipment. Oversee cost control, waste reduction, quality, and safety. Attend and lead staff and project team meetings. Create, develop, and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, departmental policies, and protocols.
  6. Select, develop, and evaluate personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function. Ensure employees are aware of their performance levels through regular communication as well as through providing timely performance appraisals. Train new scientific staff in the general use and function of designated instrumentation and create and refine user protocol for general use.
  7. Compile and document data for program key performance indicators (KPIs) metrics. Prepare reports, conduct technical presentations, and keep Senior Management informed of progress and problems. When appropriate, participate in scientific meetings, seminars, and workshops to stay abreast of technology advances.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree and 5 or more years' experience, including 0-2 years' supervisory experience or equivalent experience.

  • Experience in managing a team is preferred.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent time management and project management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization both orally and in writing; consistent track record of working multi-functionally.
  • Understands good laboratory practices and good manufacturing practices.
