Overview

The Senior Manager of Facilities assumes a pivotal role in directing the strategic oversight of design, planning, construction, and maintenance activities for equipment, machinery, buildings, and various facilities. Responsible for orchestrating the comprehensive spectrum of tasks, they adeptly formulate, allocate budgets, and schedule facility enhancements, encompassing thorough assessments of equipment, labor, materials, and associated expenditures. Their purview extends to the coordination of building space allocation, optimized layout strategies, and the seamless integration of communication services, while also spearheading visionary initiatives for facility expansion.

 

The Senior Manager, Facilities establishes operational objectives and work plans and delegates assignments to subordinates. They review objectives to determine success of operation. They are involved in developing, modifying, and executing company policies that affect immediate operations and may also have company-wide effect. They implement strategic policies when selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. They establish and assure adherence to budgets, schedules, work plans, and performance requirements. They Work on issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of organizational objectives.

Responsibilities

  1. Spearhead and provide strategic direction to the facility team responsible for operations across premises owned, occupied, or contracted by the organization, orchestrating daily activities with a focus on achieving operational excellence. Oversee the maintenance and transformation of buildings, offices, grounds, laboratories, and multifaceted facilities, leveraging a comprehensive perspective to enhance their functionality and aesthetic appeal.
  2. Demonstrate unwavering commitment to upholding regulatory standards and organizational protocols, ensuring seamless compliance with procedures, policies, and regulations. Exhibit swift responsiveness in addressing regulatory matters and inspection findings, employing a seasoned approach to navigate complex compliance landscapes.
  3. Formulate and envision an adaptive and growth-oriented organizational structure for the facilities department, seamlessly accommodating evolving priorities and expansion endeavors, while optimizing resource allocation and talent deployment.
  4. Spearhead the strategic planning and coordination of all maintenance, installations, and repairs across diverse operational domains. Implement a far-reaching perspective to ensure that activities align with organizational goals and standards of excellence.
  5. Employ a proactive lens in conducting inspections of building premises, adeptly discerning the need for maintenance, repairs, or transformative upgrades. Act as a conduit of information to affected staff, effectively relaying updates while promptly escalating concerns to the Director for decisive action.
  6. Strategically discern and determine equipment requisites, lease agreements, procurement necessities, and essential services, managing negotiations with vendors to secure contracts that align with organizational objectives. Foster vendor relationships, underpinned by adept conflict resolution and maintenance of documentation.
  7. Take the helm of project management initiatives, ensuring the execution of projects while adhering to precise specifications and budgets. Navigate the landscape of licenses and permits, overseeing their acquisition to ensure regulatory compliance.
  8. Cultivate communication bridges by liaising with property management entities, planning commissions, and Leadership, artfully bridging strategic insights and operational realities to drive informed decision-making.
  9. Establish and enforce an enduring framework for maintaining facility and equipment-related content within document and record management systems, interfacing collaboratively with Quality Assurance and other stakeholders as necessary to uphold the highest standards of operational excellence.
  10. Provide guidance to staff within the bounds of established organizational policies, fostering professional growth and driving a culture of innovation. Display commitment by participating in on-call duties as needed, demonstrating dedication to the continuity of critical operations.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree and 10 or more years' experience, including 4 or more years' supervisory experience or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge in Asset and Building Management Systems.
  • Knowledge in Design software like Auto Cad, Revit, etc.

 Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • Must have demonstrated knowledge of working in a cGMP facility.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Technical knowledge in Facilities and Utilities systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair a wide variety of complex equipment both mechanical and electrical in nature.
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret technical data from complex drawings and manuals
  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • In depth knowledge in state and local building codes, electrical codes, mechanical standards, and safety regulations.
  • Available to work during extended and/or weekends.
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to handle several tasks simultaneously
  • Knowledge and experience with Siemens and Johnson Controls Automation Systems.
  • Good computer skills
  • Able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Excellent analytical skills
