Overview

The BioProduction Cell Biology Biologist position supports ATCC catalog manufacturing of cell lines and associated products. Under direction, they will learn various cell culture techniques and good documentation practices to produce products in the ATCC catalog.

 

The Biologist supports the team by monitoring laboratory supplies, equipment, and overall lab cleanliness. They generally work on problems of moderate scope. The Biologist applies organizational policies and procedures to resolve routine issues while learning to apply professional concepts.

Responsibilities

  1. Follow established protocols to manufacture cell lines using standard aseptic techniques and cell culture methods.
  2. Utilize cell culture techniques, under general supervision, to contribute to other manufacturing activities.
  3. Collect and analyze data, make detailed observations, and report results. Document results neatly and accurately in batch records and electronic databases.
  4. Support laboratory operations by ordering, monitoring, and reporting on department supply levels, monitoring equipment functionality and cleaning laboratory equipment.Remain current on cell culture methods, techniques, and developments.
  5. Solve problems of moderate scope applying organizational policy and procedure to resolve routine issues.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree within cell biology, biology, biochemistry, or material science and 2-5 years' experience or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with aseptic technique is required.
  • Experience with cell culture is strongly desired but not required.

 Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Works under general supervision.

  • Works well as part of a team.

  • Attention to detail.

  • Maintains accurate records.

  • Willingness to follow laboratory, safety, and quality control procedures and requirements.

  • Must be proficient in MS Office Applications.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
