Overview

This position supports efforts in a Quality Control Microbiology laboratory. Experience with or exposure to Bacteria handling techniques is preferred.

 

The Associate Biologist assists in preparing for and conducting experiments on biological materials and processes. Under direction, they support the testing and studies to advance product development and research. They contribute to the collection and reporting of data and findings.

 

The Associate Biologist supports the team by monitoring laboratory supplies, equipment, and cleanliness. They generally work on problems of limited scope and receive detailed instructions on the work performed. The Associate Biologist applies organizational policies and procedures to resolve routine issues while learning to apply professional concepts.

Responsibilities

  1. Prepare for and conduct experiments to assist in studying the effects of varying materials, chemicals, environments, and physical conditions on biological materials and processes using standard scientific techniques and methods. Perform viability and purity checks on biological materials.
  2. Utilize a variety of biological techniques, under general supervision, to contribute to tests and studies that advance product research and development objectives.
  3. Collect and analyze data, make detailed observations, and report results. Test and document results neatly and accurately in notebooks, batch records and databases.
  4. Summarize research findings to help inform decisions.
  5. Assist in developing new methods and technologies for project advancement
  6. Support laboratory operations by ordering, monitoring, and reporting on department supply levels, monitoring equipment functionality and cleaning laboratory equipment.
  7. Remain current on biology research methods, techniques, and developments.
  8. Solve problems of limited scope applying organizational policy and procedure to resolve routine issues.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree and 0-2 years' experience or equivalent experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Works under general supervision.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Maintains accurate records.
  • Sound knowledge of laboratory procedures and protocols.
