    Founded in 1925, ATCC is a non-profit organization with a mission to acquire, authenticate, preserve, develop, standardize, and distribute biological materials and information for the advancement and application of scientific knowledge. 


    The Associate Technical Writer will help manage the technical content produced by the technical writing team to ensure consistency and accuracy of contract web detail pages. He/she ensures that government website content is 508 compliant. The incumbent is also responsible for maintaining and updating the Authentication SharePoint site, archiving items, writing and editing documents, and tracking authentication processes. This person executes the responsibilities of the position with close supervision. The incumbent actively supports and complies with all ATCC corporate policies and procedures.

    Responsibilities

    1. Performs scientific data entry into website interface software with a high degree of accuracy and attention to data quality standards, including scientific error detection and data verification. Where data is incomplete and/or missing, contacts appropriate individuals to obtain missing information.
    2. Writes, reviews and edits documents such as SOPs, work instructions, protocols, forms, Product Information Sheets, Certificates of Analysis and other documents to support manufacturing efforts for contracts.
    3. Performs document and website inspections.
    4. Understands 508 compliance requirements for government contract documents.
    5. Manages and provides functional updates to Authentication SharePoint Batch Record Tracking sites.
    6. Manages electronic and hard copy Documentation files including organization, scanning and tracking.
    7. Utilizes ERP for maintenance and tracking of products on contract websites.
    8. Performs other ancillary duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in a science related field.
    • High degree of organizational skills, must provide evidence of multi-tasking abilities.
    • Some scientific writing preferred.

    • Follow all company safety practices, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and policies. 

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • 2 years experience in a technical writing position.
    • Experience with 508 compliance.
    • Strong computer competencies – knowledge of HTML, SharePoint, website interface software, Acrobat and MS-Office suite products is highly desireable.
    • Exceptionally detail-oriented.
