  • Overview

    Founded in 1925, ATCC is a non-profit organization with a mission to acquire, authenticate, preserve, develop, standardize, and distribute biological materials and information for the advancement and application of scientific knowledge.  


    Biologists are needed to provide the following support. Individual should be capable of performing work under moderate supervision in a team environment. Focus is placed on attention to detail, maintenance of accurate records in appropriate formats and sound knowledge of laboratory procedures and protocols. Prior work under Select Agent registration is preferred.

     

    Responsibilities

    1. Demonstrates laboratory skills and safety procedures including proper handling of chemicals and/or biologicals, use of aseptic technique.
    2. Performs viability assessments on biological materials, appropriate authentication/characterization procedures for biological materials.
    3. Prepares and/or propagates biological materials.
    4. Records data in appropriate format within digitized data management systems, to include translation of data in notebooks, batch records, or advanced databases.
    5. Monitors laboratory equipment and reports issues if equipment is not functioning within appropriate specifications.

    Qualifications

    Education and Experience:

    • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in a science related field with 2 to 5 years of relevant experience OR a science related master’s degree with 0-3 years of relevant experience required. Virology background preferred.

    • Prior experience working in containment (BSL-3) is preferred
