    Founded in 1925, ATCC is a non-profit organization with a mission to acquire, authenticate, preserve, develop, standardize, and distribute biological materials and information for the advancement and application of scientific knowledge. 


    The Human Resources Internship provides current Human Resources students with an opportunity to gain practical experience in the three areas of human capital management: Talent Acquisition, Talent Development, and Talent Retention. This is an entry-level opportunity to learn and contribute to a fast-pace, high performing, and innovative change team. A department manager will closely direct and supervise all responsibilities.

     

    This role is an entry-level position, the incumbent must be a self-starter that can manage their daily work in accordance with an overall timeline. Because of the nature of the work and access to information, the incumbent must be able to operate maintaining confidentiality.

    Responsibilities

    1. Provide general office support including printing, filing, data entry, clerical support on large projects
    2. Use human resources information systems (HRIS) to run reports, enter data or create workflow tasks and communication
    3. Respond to general inquiries from employees and managers that have questions about recruitment, performance management, compensation, and benefits
    4. Partner with HR Managers to provide project administration for cyclical activities: performance management, health and wellness events, benefits open enrollment and compensation planning
    5. Lead small projects: rewriting policies, job descriptions, or intranet content

     

    Qualifications

    Education and Experience:

    • High School Diploma or GED
    • Currently enrolled in a 2 year certificate or 4 year degree plan at an accredited community college or university. Degree plan must be business related with a focus in human resources

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Minimum of 2 years working in a business/office environment
    • Intermediate computer skills including Outlook email and Microsoft products. Including advanced Excel skills (vlook-ups and pivot tables). Experience with Ultimate HR Database, Halogen, and Sharepoint a plus
    • Ability to work in a team environment, prioritize tasks, work independently, pay attention to details, build positive relationships, adapt to changing priorities
    • Strong command of the English language: written and verbal 

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience with Ultimate HR Database, Halogen, and Sharepoint a plus
    • HR Certifications (PHR, SHRM, HRCI, CPP, CCP) preferred, but not required
