Founded in 1925, ATCC is a non-profit organization with a mission to acquire, authenticate, preserve, develop, standardize, and distribute biological materials and information for the advancement and application of scientific knowledge.
The Scientist will be responsible for leading bioinformatics and sequencing data analysis projects at ATCC. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience and in bioinformatics and next generation sequencing technologies. The responsibilities include to develop a plan of action including schedules and resources required including the independent design, development, and implementation of strategies for data management and analysis. The incumbent will be integral part of the cross-functional project teams and will perform basic and advanced analyses of data sets using current open source software and by developing new analytical tools and pipelines for NGS data sets. The successful candidate will have a background in bioinformatics, biostatistics or computational biology and experience working in a Linux/Unix environment and developing scripts for processing data in languages such as Perl, Python, JAVA, C++ and/or R. The Scientist may be responsible for other R&D activities including development of new and/or improved characterization and validation methods for next generation sequencing, data analysis and other projects consistent with the goals and objectives of ATCC. It is expected the incumbent supervises and mentors the staff, while leading by example, and enforces all ATCC corporate policies and procedures.
