Founded in 1925, ATCC is a non-profit organization with a mission to acquire, authenticate, preserve, develop, standardize, and distribute biological materials and information for the advancement and application of scientific knowledge.
Reporting to the Chief Information & Technology Officer (CITO), the Director of Data Management and Analytics is responsible for the overall data strategy and governance, policy, enterprise architecture and program execution required to optimize the value of ATCC’s data assets. This Director will employ a portfolio management approach to adapting solutions, standards and best practices that align with and enable ATTC’s organizational strategy and fit within budget. Experience managing structured and unstructured information content including financial, business, biological and scientific data is highly relevant. Expertise with a variety of data platforms including Microsoft Sequel Server and various open source platforms is also pertinent as is knowledge of data, application and API integration tools and techniques. This person will collaborate with internal stakeholders in ATCC’s business units and corporate support departments. Serving ATCC’s customers in academia, government and industry with high quality information content is also a critical aspect of this role.
Additionally, the Director of Data Management and Analytics must possess strong leadership, business, communication and people skills that bring credit to ATCC’s brand, promote our core values, enhance our capabilities and advance the quality of the work environment. The Director will manage staff including internal and external personnel and must demonstrate integrity, analytical ability, sound managerial judgment, operational expertise, change management experience, discretion, and the capacity to think strategically and multi-dimensionally in order to solve problems and make decisions and recommendations.
Education and Experience:
Requires a bachelor's degree in computer science or related field and at least 15 years of experience in the field.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Able to think and operate on both the strategic and tactical levels; develop short term solutions that complement longer term goals.
