Founded in 1925, ATCC is a non-profit organization with a mission to acquire, authenticate, preserve, develop, standardize, and distribute biological materials and information for the advancement and application of scientific knowledge. 

The Associate Desktop Support Specialist is responsible for the installation and maintenance of workstations and resolving end user problems.  The Associate Desktop Support Specialist possesses knowledge of PC Desktop Operating Systems including connections to the network.  The incumbent actively supports and complies with all ATCC corporate policies and procedures.


  • Monitors and responds to calls received through the Helpdesk.
  • Maintains an accurate log of all Helpdesk activities.
  • Installs and tests new desktop components, new applications, operating systems and upgrades to ensure compatibility with overall networking operations.
  • Troubleshoots researches and resolves problems related to operating systems and applications in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Insures all employees understand the corporate policies regarding the use of PC’s, the network and the Internet.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


 Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of a high school diploma required. 
  • Knowledge of PC/Network system practices required. 
  • One to three years of experience is required.
  • Skills and abilities sufficient to perform the essential functions such as research, communication with employees and vendors, and technical skills (configurations, hook up, etc.) are required.
  • Proficiency in using computer hardware and software applications is also necessary. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution with individuals in high stress situations.
  • Strong analytical abilities.
  • Knowledge of Windows Client Operating Systems
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair PC hardware.
  • Knowledge of core network services used by all desktops including internet, printing, etc.
  • Other applications as defined by the ATCC.
